Al terminar el corto de la Primavera Siempre Vuelve, quise contar una historia del otro lado de la familia... Este corto cuenta la historia de Adela, la madre de mi suegra, que migró de Asturias a la Habana hace casi 100 años. Mientras me contaba su historia, me habló de menstruación y de migración, y decidí crear y dirigir esta historia poniendo en el centro los ciclos, la sangre e intentar responder una pregunta, ¿podemos crear belleza a partir de sangre menstrual?

 

After finishing the short film "Spring Always Returns," I wanted to tell a story from the other side of the family... This short film tells the story of Adela, my mother-in-law's mother, who migrated from Asturias to Havana almost 100 years ago. As she told me her story, she spoke about menstruation and migration, and I decided to create and direct this story, focusing on cycles and blood, and trying to answer one question: can we create beauty from menstrual blood?
